The weekend is here.  Woohoo.  Time to either kick back and relax, while having some fun at the same time.  One way to relax and have a bit of fun is to watch a good movie.  I recently rediscovered the movie Nine To Five.  This 1980’s comedy stars Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda as secretaries working for a chauvinistic and obnoxious boss, played by Dabney Coleman.

This is an absolutely hilarious story of how three secretaries, through a series of misunderstandings, end up kidnapping Coleman, their sexist boss, and holding him hostage for a few days, while they tried to figure out a way to correct the misperceptions.  This movie has you laughing from the beginning to the end.  Lead by Lily Tomlin’s sharp wit and Dolly Parton’s southern charm, you can’t help but giggle out loud as these secretaries try to navigate their way out of trouble.

Dolly Parton wrote and performed the movie’s hit theme song Nine To Five, which has been hailed as one of the best title songs ever from a movie.

For all Dolly Parton fans, a musical version of the film with new songs written by Parton will begin its Broadway run in April 2009.

So this weekend, kickback and relax, pop some popcorn, and pop in Nine to Five in the DVD, and prepare to spend about ninety minutes or so of your weekend giggling at the capers of these three secretaries.  Enjoy!
